The University of Colorado Denver has hired a former U.S. attorney to review how it handled James Holmes, the former graduate student charged with killing 12 people at a screening of the new Batman movie.
The university said in a statement released Friday afternoon that Robert N. Miller's review started last week and will take "some time."
Holmes spent a year in the university's neuroscience program and dropped out in early June. He had been seeing a school psychiatrist. Some media outlets, citing unnamed sources, have reported the psychiatrist was so concerned with his behavior that she contacted members of a campus threat assessment team. Holmes allegedly attacked the Aurora movie theater just after midnight on July 20.
