Organ Recital - Carol Wilson

First Christian Church is presenting an organ recital played by their organist, Carol Wilson. In celebration of her 25 years at First Christian, the first half will include chorale- and hymn-based works from the Baroque to the present time. The second half will include works by J.S. Bach, Paul Hindemith, Charles Marie Widor, a chamber work for flute, oboe, violin, cello and keyboard by J.C. Bach, and an organ duet by Denis Bédard. A free will offering will be taken.

Works to be performed: chorale preludes on Praise to the Lord by Johann Gottfried Walther, J.S. Bach and Helmut Walcha; Herr Jesu Christ dich zu uns wend, Nun komm der Heiden Heiland and Komm, Gott, Schöpfer, heiliger Geist from the 18 “Great” Chorales by J. S. Bach; Herzlich tut mich verlangen and Herzlich tut mich erfreuen by Johannes Brahms; Rhosymedre by Ralph Vaughan Williams; Now Thank We All Our God and Rejoice, You Pure in Heart by Michael Burkhardt; What God Ordains is Good, Go Tell it on the Mountain and God of Grace and God of Glory by Paul Manz; and Ein feste Burg by Max Reger; Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by J.S. Bach; Sonata II – Lebhaft by Paul Hindemith; Quintet for Flute, Oboe, Violin, Cello and Keyboard – Allegro by Johann Christian Bach, with Karen Morsch, Joyce Hanagan, Kay Wehofer and Veselka Kuzma; Petite Suite for organ duet by Denis Bédard with Bonnie Linder; and Symphonie No. V – Allegro vivace by Charles Marie Widor.

8th Annual Panerathon 5K/10K to Fight Hunger in Metro Denver

Panera Bread announces its 8th annual Panerathon 5K and 10K to Fight Hunger on Sunday, September 7, 2014 benefiting Food Bank of the Rockies. With one in seven Coloradans, including nearly half of those being children, struggling with hunger, the Panerathon’s goal is to run hunger out of town. This year’s event aims to raise more than $20,000 for Coloradans in need of food.

Participants will receive an event t-shirt, goody bag and timing chip on race day. Custom certificates and gift cards from Panera Bread and Road Runner Sports and Panera’s freshly baked baguettes will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K.


• The pre-race registration fee for an adult: $30 for 5K, $35 for 10K.
• The pre-race for youths (17 years old and under) and seniors (60 years and over): $25 for 5k, $30 for 10K.
• The pre-race registration fee for teams of 10 or more: $20 a person.
• On race day, registration fees will increase $10 per person.

Westminster Bakery-café Community to Run Hunger Out of Town

Panera Bread is proud to present the 8th Annual Panerathon 5K/10K to Fight Hunger on Sunday, September 7, 2014. The race will take place at the Panera Bread at the Shops at Walnut Creek in Westminster, located at 10450 Towncenter Drive, and the course will wind through Westminster Trail System. Events include a Free Kids Run for aspiring marathoners 12 years of age and under at 7:45 a.m., a 5K run/walk at 8:00 a.m. and a 10K run only also beginning at 8:00 a.m. Adults, kids, runners, walkers, well-behaved leashed dogs and strollers are welcome. All proceeds for this year’s event will benefit Food Bank of the Rockies in Westminster.

Pikes Peak or Bust Pickleball Tournament

The Pikes Peak Pickleball Club is hosting the Pikes Peak or Bust USAPA sanctioned pickleball tournament September 4-7, 2014, at Monument Valley Park. Last year more than 14 participants from 12 different states and Mexico played in the tournament. The 2014 tournament will be skills/age format, which enables players to compete against others who are similar in age and ability. The public is invited to watch the tournament free of charge.
