He spent a total of three and-a-half years with KKCO in Grand Junction. During his time with KKCO he produced and co-anchored the award winning “Friday Night Football Blitz.” (2008 Best Sports Special – Colorado Associated Press Broadcasters Association.)
Before Sam came to Colorado he worked for KSL (NBC affiliate) in Salt Lake City for four years (sports intern, studio crew, assistant sports producer).
Sam grew up in Orem, Utah (40 miles south of Salt Lake City) with three brothers. His brothers were his biggest competition in the driveway where Sam was known to call his own play-by-play in basketball and in the backyard in wiffle ball.
At 19 years old he served a two year LDS Church mission in Belo Horizonte, Brazil where he learned to speak the Portugues language fluently. He also has a working knowledge of both spoken and written spanish.
Sam graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Utah Valley University and then transferred to the University of Utah where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism in 2005. He was married on December 19, 2008 in Salt Lake City to Sadie Peavler.
