Rick Montanez comes to the 11 News team from KIDK, the CBS station in Idaho Falls.
Originally from Los Angeles, Rick enjoyed his 3 years working in Idaho. While there, Rick played a key role in his station’s coverage of the Senator Larry Craig scandal. Also, he won awards for his coverage of a police shooting and a major wild fire that threatened the Idaho National Laboratory, a major nuclear facility in Idaho.
Rick covered many positions in the newsroom including reporter, weekend anchor, weather forecaster and producer.
Before the adventures in Idaho, Rick worked at the assignment desk for KABC in Los Angeles. He’s a 2006 graduate from the University of La Verne in Southern California. And, before jumping into the TV News world Rick worked at In-N-Out, a famous burger restaurant in California.
Rick is a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He likes to spend his free time exploring Colorado with family.
