McKenzie joined the KKTV 11 News Team in August of 2006 after spending two and half years working at KOBF-TV in Farmington, NM. She was the morning anchor for a year and half before taking over as the station's sports director. While covering sports and news in the Land of Enchantment, McKenzie won several awards from both the Associated Press and the New Mexico Broadcasters Association. McKenzie says the thing she likes best about reporting is the fact that you get to cover something different everyday and you never know who you might get to meet.
McKenzie graduated from Washington State University in 2003. GO COUGS! While at Wazzu she interned at KING-TV in Seattle, KAPP-TV in Yakima and was a student reporter for FOX Sports Northwest. McKenzie is originally from Walla Walla and spent most of her childhood in the Evergreen State before moving to New Mexico where she spent her High School Years.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, McKenzie could not be more thrilled to be living in Colorado. She is also excited to be living closer to her Mom who’s in Vail and her brother who plays football at West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
McKenzie is also an avid cyclist and during her free time can usually be found riding either her road or mountain bike. She also enjoys competing in triathlons and any other local races. McKenzie also loves to snow ski and can’t wait to hit the slopes now that she lives near the Rockies!
