Starting as a tape editor, Stacia worked her way up through the newsroom ranks with jobs as a producer and reporter. She previously served as Morning Anchor/Executive Producer in her hometown of Lawton/Ft. Sill, OK for four years.
Stacia and John have received numerous awards for their morning newscasts. Most recently, they were named Best Anchor Team for 2012 by the Colorado Broadcasters Association. The KKTV 11 News morning team was also acknowledged by the Colorado Springs Independent in the 2011 Viewers Choice Awards. Before coming to Colorado, Stacia received awards from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters for her coverage of the 10th Anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing in 2005 and the Miss Oklahoma Pageant in 2006.
In addition to her duties on the morning show, Stacia also serves as the station Health/Fitness reporter, receiving recognition by the CBAs in 2012 for that effort. She has a Master’s Degree in Communications from the University of Oklahoma, which allows her to teach local undergraduate students in subjects like Public Speaking and Interpersonal Communication. She’s been teaching since 2006. Currently, you’ll find her in classrooms at UCCS and Pikes Peak Community College, but she has also taught at Cameron University in Oklahoma.
Stacia is part of the Executive Board with Woman To Woman Mentoring, helping local women find mentors in the Colorado Springs business community. She also works as a volunteer with the Miss Colorado Scholarship program, encouraging volunteerism in young women. She is also a proud volunteer with the USO on Fort Carson. “I was born in Lawton/Ft. Sill and then grew up a Navy brat, so being around our troops and military families feels like home,” she says. That also lead to her involvement as an instructor for Transition University on Fort Carson, which is a pilot program for the U.S. Army, assisting soldiers in their transition from military life to civilian life.
She loves reading to kids and has had the opportunity to visit classrooms all over the area, sharing the importance of 4 skills with thousands of local students: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Spencer, and their two German Shepherds, Charley and Payton. Stacia is a classically trained singer and has been performing for most of her life.
