Katie Killen co-anchors KKTV 11 News each weekday from 4:30-7 a.m. and 11 News at 9 a.m. She joined the news team in March of 2014. She comes to Colorado Springs from the NBC affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina where she was both a morning reporter and social media anchor.
While in Charlotte, Katie covered several stories with national impact, including the 2012 Democratic National Convention. Katie also spent time at the ABC affiliate in both Asheville, North Carolina, where she anchored and helped launch the weekend morning show, and Winchester, Virginia. She started her career as a news assistant at CNN’s Washington D.C. bureau.
Katie is originally from western Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree from Saint Vincent College. She also has a Master’s degree in journalism from American University in Washington, D.C.
She is excited to be in gorgeous Colorado Springs. When Katie’s not waking up before dawn, you can catch her running, snowboarding, or exploring the outdoors with her fiancé and their rescue dog and cat.
Katie welcomes Springs restaurant recommendations (she’s a vegetarian!) and hiking trail suggestions.
