Don't waste your workout time wandering around, wondering where to begin. These three moves will give you a total body workout and rev up your metabolism to make 2013 your healthiest year yet! Curtis Hyde, a Certified Personal Trainer with 24-Hour Fitness, explains how to make these moves work for you:
Squat with dumbell shoulder press:
Hold Dumbells above shoulders, stand with feet shoulder width apart. Squat while sitting back into your heels and keeping your knees in line with your toes. Keep your chest up and core tight. Push through your heels to stand while raising the dumbells straight into the air above your shoulders until your elbow is straight but not locked out. Remember, tight core!
Go into a pushup position making sure your shoulders are directly over your hands and your core is as tight as can be by pulling your belly button to your spine. Jump one foot up, bringing your knee to your chest and your foot between your hands, while your other foot is still straight back in the starting position. Switch your legs, jumping back and forth, right foot up, left foot up, and so forth.
Lie on stomach with hands extended straight out in front of your body, so that from fingertips to toes you have created one straight line with your body. Lift your arms and your legs off the ground as high as you can using your back strength and then lower back to the floor and continue to raise off the floor a little higher each time.
