The Drowsy Chaperone (Don Ward)
Updated: 05/20/2013 - Two weekends left to catch one great show!
The deck of cards workout is great because it is challenging, there is no equipment required, it can be done anywhere, and it will never grow old as long as you keep switching up the moves!
Grab a deck of cards and let’s begin!
The Workout
Face cards (jack, queen, king) – complete 11 repetitions of designated suit
Ace – take a 1 minute break
Diamonds – pushups
Hearts (cardio move to get your heart pumping!) – jumping jacks
Spades – squats
Clubs – crunches
Use the suit of the card to determine the exercise, then the number on the card to decide the amount of repetitions you will do.
Example:
Card one: 8 of clubs- 8 crunches
Card two: 4 of hearts- 4 jumping jacks
Card three: Ace of diamonds – take a 1 minute break
Card four: Queen of spades- 11 squats
When you first begin, set an appropriate goal for yourself (for example: get through the deck in less than 35 minutes). Then the next time you do the workout, try and beat your previous time.
Each time you play, give the suits a different exercise to add variety to your workouts and to make it more challenging for yourself.
