The Nuggets will be going for a sixth straight win as they hit the road to open a home-and-home series with the Phoenix Suns tonight. Denver had been sitting in ninth place in the West behind Golden State since the end of February. But the Nuggets defeated Golden State on Saturday, and Golden State defeated Dallas last night.

Yesterday the club signed left-handed reliever Micah Bowie and outfielder Scott Podsednik to major league contracts. They placed right-handed pitcher Jason Hirsh on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder. Hirsh was expected to be the Rockies' Number-4 pitcher but hasn't pitched since March 1st, when he strained his rotator cuff.

Rockies, Coors Agree To 10-Year Sponsorship Extension

Posted: 03/31/2008 - Molson Coors Brewing Co., the No. 3 beer producer in the United States, will be a fixture at Coors Field in Denver for at least the next decade. The Golden-based brewery said Monday it's signed a 10-year sponsorship agreement with the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball. Financial terms of the pact weren't disclosed.

Posted: 03/24/2008 - Five months after the Colorado Rockies said a "malicious" attack paralyzed the club's online ticket sales for the World Series, charges have yet to be filed. But FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller in Los Angeles says there's still an ongoing investigation into the matter. The California ticketing company, Paciolan (PAK'-ee-OH'-lun) Incorporated, handled the sale -- which had to be suspended when computer servers were overwhelmed.

Broncos Sign Casey Wiegmann, Re-Sign Cecil Sapp

Posted: 03/24/2008 - The Denver Broncos on Monday signed unrestricted free-agent center Casey Wiegmann and re-signed unrestricted free-agent running back Cecil Sapp, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. Wiegmann (6-foot-2, 285 pounds) is a 13th-year player who joins Denver after starting at center for Kansas City during the past seven seasons. He also has played for Chicago (1997-2000), the New York Jets (1997) and Indianapolis (1996), which signed him as a college free agent from the University of Iowa.
