Posted: 03/16/2008 - The scoreboard at the Pepsi Center didn't stop until the Denver Nuggets stopped shooting. Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points, Allen Iverson had 24 and Marcus Camby had a triple-double as the Nuggets set an NBA season high for points in a game with a 168-116 rout of Seattle. The 168 points are the most Denver has scored in a game since a 1984 overtime game against San Antonio. It is also the most the Nuggets have scored in regulation.
Updated: 03/17/2008 - For the second straight year, the Air Force hockey team is going to the NCAA hockey tournament. It's quite an accomplishment considering they never made to the tourney in their first 39 years of existence. Josh Frider’s goal 56 seconds into the second overtime lifted Air Force to a 5-4 win over Mercyhurst in the championship game of the Atlantic Hockey Association Tournament, Sunday, March 16, at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y.

Posted: 03/16/2008 - North Carolina, Memphis, Kansas and UCLA are the top seeds in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. The Tar Heels are the top seed in the East, and the entire tournament, while Memphis is No. 1 in the South, Kansas in the Midwest and UCLA in the West.
Posted: 03/16/2008 - Denver and Colorado College are both moving on in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs. In Denver last night, Anthony Maiani scored and Peter Mannino made 25 saves to lead Denver to a 1-0 victory against Minnesota Duluth. The victory gave DU a sweep of the WCHA tournament first-round series and secured the Pioneers' first berth in the league's Final Five since 2005.
Posted: 03/16/2008 - The New Jersey Devils snapped Colorado's five-game winning streak at home by beating the Avalanche 4-2 yesterday. Martin Brodeur stopped 24 shots in reaching 40 wins for a record seventh time. Jay Pandolfo added a goal and an assist. Dainius Zubrus, Jamie Langenbrunner and John Madden also scored for the Devils, who have won five of six.
Posted: 03/15/2008 - Nick Gill scored 13 points and Faith Christian played strong inside defense to win the 3A boys state basketball championship with a 54-42 victory over Colorado Springs Christian Saturday night. Chase Grabau had 11 points and Jobi Wall 10 points for Faith Christian (25-1). It was the second state championship for the team that finished the year with an 18-game winning streak. The Eagles won the title in 2002.
Posted: 03/15/2008 - If Talli Hansen was the engine powering Eads to its second consecutive 1A girls state basketball championship, Jordan Barnett was its spark plug. Hansen, a 6-1 senior center, once again provided an imposing presence beneath both backboards and scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Eagles (23-3) to a 59-37 win over Briggsdale (22-4) Saturday afternoon in Clune Arena.
Updated: 03/15/2008 - Francisco Cruz scored 19 points, taking the game in his own hands in the final minutes Saturday, and Abraham Lincoln won its second straight Class 4A state championship with a 63-59 victory over Widefield at the Coors Events Center. Dre Calloway added 14 points, and Sean Williams had 11 for the top-seeded Lancers (23-5), winners of the Denver Prep League who finished the season with 19 straight victories including a 70-65 victory over defending Class 5A champion Denver East.
Updated: 03/15/2008 - Brent Olson and Matt Fairchild each scored two goals and Andrew Volkening posted his fourth shutout in the last seven games to lead Air Force to a 5-0 win over RIT in the semifinals of the Atlantic Hockey Association Tournament, Saturday, March 15, at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. An AHA record crowd of 3,933 watched as Air Force advances to the championship game for the second consecutive year.
Posted: 03/15/2008 - Allen Iverson scored 28 points despite a fractured finger, Carmelo Anthony added 22 and the Denver Nuggets won their fifth straight at home, blowing out the Toronto Raptors 137-105 last night. It's the second-most points the Nuggets have scored this season. They still have the NBA high mark for the season with a 138-point performance in a win at Seattle on Feb. 27.
Posted: 03/14/2008 - Despite hitting over .300 this spring, Todd Helton is just starting to swing the bat well. Helton hit a two-run homer Thursday for his first home run of the spring in the Colorado Rockies' 6-6 tie with the Texas Rangers. Helton sent a 3-2 fastball from Luis Mendoza over the right-centerfield wall in the bottom of the fourth to highlight the Rockies' five-run inning.
Posted: 03/14/2008 - Julien McCollum scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and the Widefield defense clamped down in the fourth quarter Thursday night en route to a 57-39 victory over Broomfield in the Class 4A state semifinals. Widefield (25-1), a No. 1 seed, will play defending champ Abraham Lincoln (22-5) for the 4A crown at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the University of Colorado Coors Events Center.
Posted: 03/14/2008 - The Colorado Avalanche now have the Northwest Division lead, moving two points ahead of Calgary and Minnesota by thumping Edmonton 5-1 last night. Up next for the Avs are the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night. Jaroslav Hlinka and Tyler Arnason each had a goal and an assist to send the Avalanche to their eighth victory in nine games. Hlinka put the Avs ahead 2-0 just 18 seconds into the middle period before Arnason added a power-play goal just over three minutes later.

Updated: 03/10/2008 - Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson has a small fracture on his right ring finger but will continue to play. The team said X-rays taken on Monday detected a non-displaced fracture at the end of the finger. Iverson was injured in a game against the Spurs in Denver on Saturday night.
Updated: 03/10/2008 - Senior Tim Anderson was named the Mountain West Conference men's basketball Defensive Player of the Year Monday by league coaches and selected media. Anderson, a guard from El Paso, Texas, was also selected to the all-MWC second-team. This is Air Force's first major MWC post-season award since Nick Welch was named co-Player of the Year and Joe Scott earned Coach of the Year honors following the 2003-04 campaign.
Posted: 03/10/2008 - Colorado Avalanche center Peter Forsberg missed last night's game against the Dallas Stars with a groin injury. He was listed by the club as day-to-day. Forsberg sustained the injury in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Dallas. He re-signed with the Avalanche on Feb. 25 and has two assists in three games, both coming Saturday.
Updated: 03/10/2008 - The ThunderWolves have drawn the eighth and lowest seed in the North Central region, pitting them against the one-seed University South Dakota, the regional host for the NCAA Division II national tournament, the NCAA announced Sunday night. South Dakota, 28-1 won the North Central Conference, beating North Dakota in the championship game on Sunday.

Marty Turco made 20 saves for his 33rd career shutout. Stu Barnes and Stephane Robidas also scored. Mike Modano added two assists to help the Stars halt Colorado's season-best six-game winning streak.
