KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore guard Derrick White continued to collect postseason honors with a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-South Central Region First Team announced this morning. White was also named to the Daktronics All-South Central Region First Team.
White led the Mountain Lions to their best season in program history with 22.2 points per game and 48 percent shooting from the field. He was a three-time RMAC Offensive Player of the Week, a member of the All-RMAC First Team and was on the on RMAC All-Shootout team. White broke UCCS records for season points (621), season scoring average (22.2), season free throws made (251), career free throws made (415) and game blocked shots (6).
UCCS finished with a program record 21 wins, put together a record 10-game winning streak, won its first playoff game in program history in the first home playoff game in program history, advanced to the RMAC Shootout Championship game for the first time and qualified for the NCAA Division II National Tournament for the first time. The Mountain Lions’ 21-9 record is a 14-game improvement from the 5-21 season of 2012-13.
