The Rockies shutout the Chicago Cubs, 2-0, at HoHoKam Stadium and improved their Cactus League record to 9-7. Troy Tulowitzki got the Rockies on the board in the first inning with an RBI double, scoring Josh Rutledge from first base. The Cubs threatened in two of the first three innings loading the bases but starting pitcher Jorge De La Rosa was able to send them back into the dugout scoreless. The Rockies would tack on another run in the sixth inning. Yorvit Torrealba began the inning with a walk and after a single from Eric Young Jr. and a walk to Carlos Gonzalez loaded the bases, Tulo picked up his second RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to right field. Tulowitzki finished the afternoon 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Colorado’s bullpen shut down the Cubs as Manny Corpas, who relieved De La Rosa (4.0 ip, 4 h, 6 so), pitched two perfect innings and struck out two. Adam Ottavino, Logan Kensing and Will Harris each tossed a scoreless inning to preserve the shutout, the Rockies’ first of the Spring. The Rockies will have a scheduled off day tomorrow, Thursday, but will resume Cactus League play on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. game in Goodyear against the Cincinnati Reds.
