DARLINGTON, S.C. (April 11, 2014) -- Martin Truex Jr. advanced to the third and final round in Friday's qualifying at Darlington Raceway and will start 12th in Saturday night's Bojangles' Southern 500.

Driving the No. 78 Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet SS at the 1.366-mile oval, Truex was 21st fastest out of 44 drivers in the first round and 12th fastest out of 24 drivers in the second round. In the final round of 12, Truex posted a time and speed of 27.139 seconds at 181.200 miles per hour.

"The guys did a good job in making the car faster," said Truex, who was 17th fastest in practice. "Going into the final round I was feeling good about the handling of our Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet. I was really hauling in Turns 1 & 2, but then I tried something different in Turns 3 & 4 and it probably cost us some valuable time. But overall, we got a good starting position and we're ready to go out there tomorrow night and have a strong race."

The pole winner was Kevin Harvick (26.802 at 183.479). Rounding out the top-12 in order were: Joey Logano, Aric Almirola, Marco Ambrose, Brad Keselowski, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Paul Menard and Truex.

Saturday night's Sprint Cup Series race will be televised on FOX, beginning with a 30-minute prerace show at 4 p.m. MT (6 p.m. ET).
