By virtue of losses by some of the nation's top teams, CSU-Pueblo has risen to a ranking of 3rd in the nation in the latest USA Today/AFCA Coaches' Poll released Monday.
After its 41-24 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State, the ThunderWolves are now enjoying its third-highest ranking in school history. Last season, CSU-Pueblo was ranked number-two in the nation heading into the regular season's final game, and then it finally attained the top spot after the conclusion of the regular season.
The ThunderWolves, which entered last weekend ranked sixth, rose to the third position by virtue of losses by number-three Northwest Missouri State, number-four Midwestern State (Texas) and number-five Wayne State (Mich.).
CSU-Pueblo opens its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule this weekend when it travels to Western New Mexico to take on the Mustangs.
