CSU-Pueblo has been ranked 6th to open up the 2012 season according to the American Football Coaches' Association preseason poll, the preeminent Division II football poll.

The Pack's ranking of 6th marks the first time the team has ever been ranked in the AFCA Preseason Top 25.
Coming off an 11-0 regular season that saw CSU-Pueblo reach a ranking of number-one in the nation and host its first ever NCAA Division II playoff game (a 24-21 loss to defending national champion, Minnesota-Duluth), the ThunderWolves ended the 2011 campaign ranked ninth in the nation.
Its current ranking of sixth is now the fourth-highest ranking the team has enjoyed since becoming a Division II program. In 2011, CSU-Pueblo reached ranks of fourth, second and first.
