SALT LAKE CITY - Colorado Springs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as the Sky Sox rolled to a 12-6 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Monday night.

The first six batters of the game all delivered hits and five of them scored. Charlie Blackmon added a two-run homer in the second to give Colorado Springs a 7-0 advantage. The Bees got one run in the second on a RBI double by Brad Hawpe and then pulled to within one run by scoring five runs in the third on a two-run homer by Erick Aybar, a run-scoring single by Luis Rodriguez and a two-run double by Trent Oeltjen. The Bees would not score the rest of the way, while the Sky Sox added one in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the ninth.

Kip Wells (0-1) took the loss in his Bees debut, as he went just two innings and allowed seven runs on nine hits. Aybar, who was with Salt Lake on an injury rehab assignment, went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and two runs batted in. Rodriguez’ single extended his hitting streak to eight games. All nine members of the Bees starting lineup had at least one hit, but the loss extends Salt Lake’s losing streak to six games.

“We’re just going through a rough stretch right now," said Bees manager Keith Johnson. "Obviously it was good to see Erick Aybar out there making some plays and swinging the bat well. The health of the Major League club is the number one priority. So, when those guys get healthy, we get healthy and we get some guys back, maybe we can get ourselves back on a roll.”
