The Salt Lake Bees scored early and often in a 7-4 victory over Colorado Springs on Saturday night in Salt Lake City. Kole Calhoun took Sky Sox starter Jeff Manship deep in the first inning with a man on to give the Bees the lead. Colorado Springs would tie the game in the second inning before Bees second baseman Luis Rodriguez emptied the bases with a grand slam in the third inning, putting the Bees up for good. Starter A.J. Schugel earned his second win of the year, tossing six innings and striking out four.

Salt Lake played tonight's game without skipper Keith Johnson. Interim manager Bill Richardson stepped in again for the club. “Erik Bennett and Francisco Matos, they’re basically calling all the shots. But to be up on the top step, it does feel pretty good at this level, for sure," stated Richardson.

The Bees have now won three straight as the two teams do battle in a Sunday afternoon game at Spring Mobile Ballpark. Matt Shoemaker is scheduled to start for Salt Lake versus righty Drew Carpenter.
