COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chris Lesnansky was named Player of the Week by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference after leading Colorado College to a pair of crucial road victories last week.
Lesnansky averaged 22.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game as the Tigers climbed into a three-way tie for second place in the SCAC standings by defeating Austin College and Centenary College on back-to-back nights.
During Friday’s 69-60 victory at Austin, Lesnansky posted a game-high 22 points and grabbed five rebounds.
The following night in a 77-70 triumph at Centenary, he finished with a game-high 23 points and had three rebounds despite playing the final 10:42 with four fouls.
Lesnansky, who surpassed the 20-point mark for the ninth time this season, climbed four spots to No. 16 on CC’s all-time scoring list with 1,060 points.
For the week, CC’s junior forward made 15 of 29 (.517) field-goal attempts and 15 of 17 free throws. He currently ranks third in the SCAC in rebounds, averaging 6.1 per contest, and fourth in both scoring (16.7) and field-goal percentage (.517).
The two victories kept Colorado College alive in the battle for the No. 2 seed at the conference tournament.
The SCAC weekly award is Lesnanksy’s first of the season and third of his career.
Colorado College plays host to the University of Dallas on Saturday in the final home game of the year.
