Rockies top Rangers in split squad game on Wednesday

In one of their split squad games on the day, the Colorado Rockies (2-5) defeated the Texas Rangers (1-5) in Surprise, 8-2…Franklin Morales received the start and pitched 3.0 strong innings in the win, allowing one run (unearned) on three hits and striking out five…the Rockies started the scoring in the first frame when Charlie Culberson blasted a solo shot which was followed by a Corey Dickerson triple who then scored when Wilin Rosario doubled him in…two-run bases loaded singles by Cristhian Adames and Paul Janish highlighted the six-run seventh inning stretched their lead to 8-1…former first round pick Tyler Matzek provided 3.0 scoreless innings from the bullpen (1 h, 1 bb, 3 so)…Colorado is on the road again tomorrow as they take on the Milwaukee Brewers in Maryvale beginning at 1:05 p.m. MST.
