Rockies lose in Cactus League play to the Indians

The Colorado Rockies (10-12-3) took the 14-3 loss in today’s matchup with the Cleveland Indians (16-5-2) at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick…the Indians got on the board first with one run in the second inning…the Rockies answered right away as Justin Morneau, who led off the bottom of the second with a ground-rule double, later scored from third on a wild pitch…Cleveland scored four runs in the third and one in the fourth…the Rockies got one back in the fifth as DJ LeMahieu doubled and later scored on a wild pitch…Cleveland scored four more in the sixth…Tim Wheeler hit a solo home run in the seventh but Cleveland scored another four in the eighth to cement the final score...Tim Wheeler finished the game 2-for-4 with a home run, RBI and run, and played all three outfield positions...Tommy Kahnle, Chad Bettis, and Bruce Kern each threw one scoreless inning.
The Rockies will have their fifth and final split-squad day tomorrow as they host the Seattle Mariners (2:10 p.m. MDT) at home and send a team to Goodyear to face the Indians (2:05 p.m. MDT).
