Michael Cuddyer would advance CarGo to third then Ben Paulson drove him in with a single to center field. Chicago took the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth and added another in the sixth to take a 3-1 advantage. D.J. LeMahieu, subbing in for Jonathan Herrera, hit a triple to center field to lead off the eighth inning and scored a batter later when Tim Wheeler hit a sacrifice fly. Chicago would score the final run of the game in the eighth. Starting his first game of the spring, Jhoulys Chacin pitched two scoreless innings and faced the minimum six batters with one strikeout.
