Rockies drop split squad game against Diamondbacks on Monday Night

SCOTTSDALE, Ari. - The Colorado Rockies (1-3), playing as visitors, fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks (4-4) 5-0 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in their second split-squad game of the day…Rosell Herrera hit a pinch-hit triple to lead off the eighth, the Rockies’ only extra-base hit…starting pitcher Christian Friedrich pitched 1.2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and struck out 3 (all looking)…Chris Martin took the mound next and pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings…Brooks Brown also pitched a scoreless inning (1 SO)…Eddie Butler made his first appearance of the spring, becoming the first Rockies pitcher to go three innings…Butler’s first two frames were scoreless before he surrendered 2 runs in his third inning of work…with the loss the Rockies are now 1-2 at Salt River Fields this Spring, including 1-1 against the Diamondbacks…the Rockies host the San Francisco Giants tomorrow at 1:10 p.m.
