The Colorado Rockies (7-7) played the Chicago Cubs (6-7) at Cubs Park in Mesa, AZ today…the Rockies defeated the Cubs 13-0 today…today’s game marked the third time this Spring the Rockies scored in double digits, as well as the second time in the club’s last two games (10-1 win Sunday at KC)…the scoring started when Corey Dickerson scored from second on an infield single off the bat of Drew Stubbs in the first inning…the Rockies added three more in the 3rd inning, which featured a 2-run home run from Kyle Parker, who plated Nolan Arenado with the bomb one batter after Arenado tripled…Arenado then added to the Rockies lead in the 6th inning when he connected on a 2-run home run to left field…Kent Matthes then crushed a 3-run home run in the 7th inning to give the Rockies an 11-0 lead…Jorge De La Rosa made his third start of the Spring and tossed 3.0 scoreless innings with one strikeout to earn the win…Jordan Lyles followed with his third appearance and tossed 3.0 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts…Lyles has now allowed just two runs, one earned, in 8.0 innings this Spring…LaTroy Hawkins, Rex Brothers and Chris Martin all tossed a scoreless inning today.
The Rockies have a split squad, day-night doubleheader vs. Cincinnati (2:10 p.m. MDT) and vs. Arizona (7:10 MDT)
