DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have activated infielder Troy Tulowitzki from the 15-day disabled list. In addition, to create the open roster spot the Rockies have optioned outfielder Tyler Colvin. Tulowitzki (#2) will be available for tonight’s game vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (8:10 p.m. MDT) at Dodger Stadium.
Tulowitzki, 28, batted .347 (77-for-222) with 16 doubles, 16 home runs, 51 RBI, 41 runs and a 1.048 OPS (.413 OBP, .635 SLG) in 61 games for the Rockies before being placed on the disabled list with a right rid fracture. Tulowitzki was named a 2013 National League All-Star starter after leading all Major League shortstops in batting average, home runs, RBI, on-base percentage (.407) and slugging percentage (.636). In 805 career Major League games (2006-2013), all with Colorado, Tulowitzki has hit .296 (899-for-3035) with 176 doubles, 23 triples, 146 home runs, 521 RBI and 512 runs.
Colvin, 27, has appeared in 27 games for the Rockies this year while hitting .160 (12-for-75) with 3 home runs, 10 RBI and 8 runs. He began the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs and hit .293 (56-for-191) with 8 doubles, 4 triples, 9 home runs, 29 RBI and 42 runs scored in 55 games. In 384 career Major League games, Colvin has batted .241 (259-for-1076) with 53 doubles, 18 triples, 47 home runs, 160 RBI and 148 runs.
