DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced tonight that the club has designated right-handed pitcher Felipe Paulino for assignment.

Paulino, 27, was originally acquired by Colorado on November 18, 2010 from Houston in exchange for infielder Clint Barmes. Paulino has gone 0-4 with a 7.36 ERA (14.2 ip, 12 er), 23 hits allowed, 7 walks and 14 strikeouts over 18 appearances for Colorado this season. Paulino is 0-4 with an 8.53 ERA (6.1 ip, 6 er) in 8 appearances during the month of May.

The right-hander pitched strictly in relief for Colorado, and allowed 13-of-18 first batters faced to reach base out of the Rockies bullpen. Paulino spent three seasons with Houston, mostly as a starter form 2007-10. Paulino is 6-25 with a 5.93 ERA (223.0 ip, 147 er), 97 walks, 201 strikeouts in his four Major League seasons with Colorado (2011) and Houston (2007, 2009-10).

The Rockies have 38 players on the 40-man roster.
