DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured third metatarsal in his left hand. To take Lyles’ place on the active roster, the Rockies have recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Martin from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Martin (#47) will be in uniform and available for tonight’s Rockies vs. Diamondbacks game at Coors Field (6:40 p.m. MDT).

Lyles, 23, has made 12 starts and owns a 5-1 record with a 3.52 ERA (69.0 ip, 27 er) for Colorado in his first season with the club. Lyles was acquired by the Rockies on December 3, 2013 along with Brandon Barnes from Houston in exchange for Dexter Fowler. Lyles has pitched in parts of four Major League seasons with the Astros (2011-13) and Rockies (2014) and owns a career Major League mark of 19-30 with a 5.07 ERA (446.0 ip, 251 er), 143 walks and 308 strikeouts. Lyles’ five wins already this season are tied for his second-most in his career, as he had seven wins in 2013.

Martin, 27, appeared in nine games for the Rockies with no record, a 4.15 ERA (8.2 ip, 4 er), 2 walks and 8 strikeouts during what was his first time in the Major Leagues April 25-May 20. The 6-foot-7 right-hander was acquired by Colorado, along with left-handed pitcher Franklin Morales, from Boston in exchange for infielder Jonathan Herrera on December 18, 2013. Martin has spent the balance of his season at Triple-A Colorado Springs where in 14 games he has gone 0-1 with a 5.52 ERA (14.2 ip, 9 er), 5 walks and 21 strikeouts. Martin signed with Boston as a non-drafted free agent on March 31, 2011.

The Rockies currently have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
