Padres shutout Rockies in Cactus League play

The Colorado Rockies (6-7) fell to the San Diego Padres (4-6-3) at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, 5-0…the loss snapped the Rockies 3-game winning streak and was just their second loss over their last seven Cactus League games…San Diego put three runs on the board in the second and added two more in the eighth…Nolan Arenado was 2-for-2 with two doubles…Carlos Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a single and a double…four of the Rockies’ nine hits were for extra bases, all of which were doubles…Franklin Morales retired the first five batters of the game before allowing double…Greg Burke came into the game in the third and forced a 6-4-3 double play against the only batter he faced…Tommy Kahnle, Tyler Matzek, Matt Belisle, Wilton Lopez, and Yohan Flande each pitched one scoreless inning…the Rockies visit the Chicago Cubs in Mesa tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. MST.
