Pack's Porter Tabbed RMAC Preseason Golfer of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (August 28, 2014) ~ Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf standout Matt Porter (Castle Rock, Colo.) was selected the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Golfer of the Year, as voted on by the league's head coaches. After advancing to their 13th consecutive NCAA regional last season, the Josh Koschke-led ThunderWolves collected 56 points and were selected to finish third in the preseason coaches poll. Additionally, Porter and Jacob Allenback (Pueblo, Colo.) garnered inclusion on the RMAC Preseason All-Conference Team.
A two-time RMAC Second Team All-Conference selection, Porter led the ThunderWolves with a 72.4 stroke average and .818 head-to-head winning percentage during the 2013-14 campaign. The senior finished amongst the top 10 in six of the Pack's 10 tournaments, including three top-five finishes. Porter notched a fifth-place finish at the 2014 RMAC Championships to earn all-tournament honors.
Allenback is coming off an outstanding freshman season in which he earned All-RMAC Tournament honors with a second place (tie) finish at the conference championships. The sophomore finished the 2013-14 season with a 75.2 stroke average and placed 31st at the NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional Championships.
Western New Mexico University was selected to win the conference title with seven first place votes and 73 points overall. The defending conference champion Mustangs finished number eight in the country last season after a strong showing in the 2014 NCAA Division II championships.
CSU-Pueblo will host Wolfpack Invitational at Walking Stick Golf Course Sept. 8-9 to kick off its 2014-15 season.
