The Stanley Cup is one of the most tradition rich championships in all of sports. In the last 30 years, the "Playoff Beard" has been added to that tradition. The KKTV 11 Sports team is joining that tradition as the Colorado Avalanche continue their run through the Stanley Cup Playoffs--and it's all to help benefit a local charity, The Home Front Cares.
11 Sports Director Sam Farnsworth and 11 Sports Anchor Brandon Spiegel along with others of the KKTV 11 team will be getting their beards shaved at Floyd's 99 Barbershop in Colorado Springs. It is the 2014 11 Sports "Beard Off."
The event will take place on Monday, May 5 between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. at both Floyd's locations. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to The Home Front Cares.
The Home Front Cares is a non-profit that provides emergency financial aid to Colorado veterans and military families, paying essential life expenses like rent, utilities and car repairs. Since 2003, THFC has raised more than $6.5 million, and money raised in Colorado stays in Colorado. Their grants often save a veteran from homelessness or keep the heat on for a military family.
Floyd's 99 Barbershop is happy to support The Home Front Cares in the 11 Sports "Beard Off." Floyd’s 99 says its success is built on great customer service, delivered by the best hairstylists and barbers in the business, in a fun, high-energy environment, at a great value.
