FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Colorado State sophomore wide receiver Rashard Higgins has earned preseason recognition from the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., with inclusion on the watch list for the 2014 Biletnikoff Award.

The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver, not merely wide receiver. Past Biletnikoff Award winners include Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, Michael Crabtree and Larry Fitzgerald.

Higgins, 6-2, 188 pounds, is one of 55 players on the Biletnikoff Award watch list, and one of eight from the Mountain West. He is among just five underclassmen on the list. As a true freshman in 2013 Higgins started all 14 games and led the Rams in receiving with 68 receptions for 837 yards (12.3) and six touchdowns.

The 68 receptions by Higgins in 2013 broke the CSU freshman record and were the most a Rams pass-catcher since David Anderson caught 86 in 2005. He ranked third among all NCAA FBS freshmen in receptions and fourth among freshmen in both receiving yards and touchdowns, and earned honorable mention freshman All-America from Campus Insiders.

A native of Mesquite, Texas, Higgins turned in a number of exemplary games in 2013, including a CSU freshman-record 156 receiving yards vs. UTEP on Sept. 28, and tying the CSU freshman record for receptions in a game with 10 versus Boise State on Nov. 2. He caught two touchdowns versus both UTEP and Air Force (Nov. 30).

The Biletnikoff Award recipient is selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group 221 prominent college football journalists, commentators and former receivers. Receivers may be added to the watch list as their season performances dictate. Ten Biletnikoff Award semifinalists will be named on November 17, 2014, following the vote by the 221 members of the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared, following another vote, on November 24, 2014.

The 2014 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 11, 2014, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show to be broadcast from 7-9 p.m. (ET) on ESPN. College and Pro Football Hall of Famer Fred Biletnikoff will announce the 2014 winner on the show.

Rams season tickets for 2014 are on sale now. A full season package starts as low as $130 and includes a ticket to the Rocky Mountain Showdown and all six home games at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.
