AMES, Iowa - The Air Force women's basketball team was unable to overcome a sluggish opening half, falling to Penn, 61-39, Sunday afternoon in the Cyclone Challenge, hosted by Iowa State.

Junior Cherae Medina (Denver, Colo.) scored a team-best 10 points, while senior Alicia Leipprandt (Ubly, Mich.) added nine points. For the Quakers, Alyssa Baron scored a game-high 16 points.

In the first half, the Falcons shot poorly, knocking down just 5-of-27 field goals, and committed 14 turnovers as the Quakers earned a 33-13 advantage at the intermission. While the second half was more evenly matched, Air Force was never able to get closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

The Falcons return home for their final non-conference game of the season, hosting Utah Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 2, in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
