RENO, Nevada - Air Force baseball fell to Nevada, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at Peccole Park. The Falcons dropped to 5-12 on the season, while the Wolf Pack improved to 13-6.
After Air Force scored a run in the top of the first, Nevada answered with six unanswered runs.
Wolf Pack starting pitcher Tyler Wells (4-0) allowed the one run in 7.1 innings of relief for the win.
Falcon starting pitcher senior Ben Bertelson (1-2) worked 6.1 innings in the loss, stiking out four. Sophomores Ben Yokley and Dillon Freeman combined to retire two batters each in scoreless relief outings.
Air Force had seven hits on the day. Freshman designated hitter Petero Johnson led the way, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Junior first baseman Seth Kline went 2-for-4.
Nevada had 13 hits on the day. First baseman Kewby Meyer went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
After the Falcons plated a run by senior Garrett Custons in the first, Nevada scored two in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the seventh.
The series finale is tomorrow at 1 p.m. PST.
