SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Air Force women’s basketball team fell to San Diego State, 72-39, Saturday afternoon at Viejas Arena.

Senior Camille Thompson (McDonough, Ga.) was the lone Falcon to score in double figures, registering 12 points, while Cherae Medina (Sr., Denver, Colo.) and Mary Cavanaugh (Fr., Arvada, Colo.) added eight points each.

Meanwhile, Khristina Hunter led the Aztecs with 20 points and 17 rebounds, tallying 15 points and 13 rebounds in the opening half alone.

In the first half, the Aztecs dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Falcons 27-12, and scoring 18 second-chance points, as they rolled to a 46-24 advantage at the intermission.

While San Diego State’s offense began to cool down after the break, Air Force was unable to get its own offense going, as the Aztecs continued to pull away. The Aztecs led by as many as 35 points in the final three minutes before a basket by Cavanaugh with 33 seconds on the clock accounted for the final margin.

The Falcons are back on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 15, when they visit league newcomer San Jose State in a 7:00 p.m. (PT) contest.
