USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force baseball placed eight players on the 2014 Academic All-Mountain West team, announced by the conference office today. The eight honorees ties last year’s team for the most by the program.
Junior infielder Noah Pierce led the way with his third all-academic honor. Senior Jack Schomaker and sophomore Coleman Poje, Steven Trojan and Bo Wilson earned their second honors.
Junior David Thomas and freshmen Nathan Stanford and Russell Williams earned their first honor.
A total of 897 student-athletes were named to the spring 2014 Academic All-Mountain West team, a new league record. Spring sports include baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, softball, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s track and field.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
