HAYS, Kan. - CSU-Pueblo was in the middle of the Pack Saturday, finishing 7th out of 17 teams at the Hays Invite in Hays, Kan.
Led by Jordan Mathes (So., Boise, Idaho), who was four seconds away from winning the individual title with a 5K time of 17:49.8, CSU-Pueblo was in the upper half of the standings Saturday. Mathes shattered the CSU-Pueblo school record by 20 seconds.
Teammate Bailey Hughes (So., Bigfork, Mont.) followed suit with a 6th place finish, running in 18:01.94. Her time is now second-best in school history, behind Mathes.
Taylor Bond (Fr., Peyton, Colo.) also added a 5K personal best with a 19:43.42 mark.
As a team, though, the ThunderWolves were in the upper half of the competitive meet, finish 7th out of 17 teams in the meet, which was comprised out of Division II and junior college teams.
"As a group I thought we did a great job," Pack coach Matt Morris said. "Jordan and Bailey put themselves in position early and executed well. We are coming along and are excited for the conference championships in a few weeks."
The RMAC Championships will take place in Silver City, N.M. on Oct. 26.
