Colorado Springs, CO. (Aug. 29, 2013) – D1 Sports Training and Therapy has officially added former Colorado Buffalo and current Detroit Piston point guard Chauncey Billups, as co-owner of its new D1 Colorado Springs facility.
D1 Colorado Springs opened July 29 in the former Mr. Biggs Family Fun Center building. The 18,000 square foot facility features an indoor turf field, collegiate-style weight room and an in-house sports therapy clinic managed by Front Range Orthopaedics, also a D1 Colorado Springs co-owner.
“Chauncey Billups is the perfect fit as a D1 co-owner. Yes, he’s a 5-time all-star, with an NBA title and Finals MVP award, but the accolades that stood out most to us is he’s been honored with the NBA’s Citizenship, Sportsmanship and Teammate of the Year awards. It is Chauncey’s character, integrity and personal commitment to youth that makes him a perfect fit to be a D1 co-owner.” states Will Bartholomew, D1 Founder & CEO.
Chauncey Billups states, “I’m excited to be partnering with D1 in Colorado Springs. I was drawn to D1 because their coaches help instill character, while holding student-athletes accountable to working hard and giving 100% effort each and every day.”
On Saturday, September 14, Billups will be hosting an exclusive D1 Colorado Springs event. During the Chauncey Billups D1 Colorado Springs Training Experience, D1 members and a limited number of participants from the general public will get the opportunity to be trained by Chauncey, with the assistance of D1 coaches. The event is free to D1 members and the general public price is $25. In addition to the training, participants will receive a commemorative poster and group photo with Chauncey.
The Saturday, September 14 D1 Colorado Springs training schedule is as follows:
