INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The first NCAA Division II regional rankings have been released, and as expected, CSU-Pueblo is perched on top the Super Region Four rankings.
The ranking of first in the super region puts CSU-Pueblo on the fast track to another berth and first-round bye in the NCAA Division II Playoffs - only if the Pack can continue to win.
CSU-Pueblo is one of nine undefeated teams in NCAA Division II, which includes its regional foe from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Ashland. Ashland is ranked second in Super Region 4, which includes teams in the GLIAC, the RMAC, the Lone Star Conference and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Rounding out the top six in the Super Region 4 rankings are RMAC foe Chadron State (6-2), Indianapolis (6-2), West Texas A&M (7-1), and Hillsdale (6-2). The top six in the rankings by season's end qualify for the NCAA Division II Playoffs. Of the teams currently ranked in the top six, CSU-Pueblo has beaten two of them (Chadron State and West Texas A&M).
The final field for the NCAA Division II Playoffs will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 11. The first round of the playoffs take place on Saturday, Nov. 17 with the second round following on Saturday, Nov. 24.
But first things first, CSU-Pueblo has three regular season games remaining that will make or break its season, beginning with a road tussle at Colorado Mesa Saturday.
