PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - April 3, 2013) - Five recent grads from the CSU-Pueblo football program participated in an NFL Pro Day at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl Wednesday, showing off their skills for NFL scouts.
Three seniors from the 2012 team - Ross Dausin (San Antonio, Texas), Ryan Jensen (Fort Morgan, Colo.) and Mark Sterling (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each took part in the pro day, as well as 2011 senior and former Atlanta Falcons training camp invitee, Lee Meisner (Sterling, Colo.) and 2009 senior and former Cincinnati Bengals rookie minicamp invitee, Augustine Agyei (Aurora, Colo.). The quintet took part in various drills, ranging from the bench press to vertical and broad jumps to the 40-yard-dash and shuttle drills.
Conditioning-wise, all five passed the battery of test with flying colors, turning in scores that were comparable with NFL Scouting Combine participants. Meisner impressed with 29 bench press reps and a vertical jump of a Pro Day-best 37.5 inches. If he took part in the NFL Scouting Combine with those numbers, both would be top-20 results.
The most eyes were on Jensen, who is generating a lot of NFL Draft buzz, earning praise from NFL Draft gurus such as Mel Kiper, Jr. Draft projections have gone as high as the third round for Jensen and many in the know believe he will at least get an NFL shot.
"It's a very stressful time, but it's a fun time," Jensen said. "I've heard third round, seventh round, and free agent, and it's kind of hard to hear all these things, but I'm just trying to control what I can control."
CSU-Pueblo John Wristen said he was proud of the performance of all five ThunderWolves and that having a Pro Day at CSU-Pueblo was a great symbol for what is possible in the Pack football program.
"It's a nice opportunity to showcase guys that have invested four or five years to get better," CSU-Pueblo head coach John Wristen said. "They really showed what they could do at the next level. [The Pro Day] really elevates our program and shows guys that they can accomplish their dreams here in Pueblo."
The Pro Day participants will be watching the NFL Draft, taking place from April 25-27.
