AMARILLO, Texas (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 17, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo junior Matt Porter (Jr., Castle Rock, Colo.) turned in one of the top tournaments in school history, finishing 9-under-par with a 4th-place finish at the Ryan Palmer Invite in Amarillo, Texas.
As a team, the ThunderWolves finished fifth.
Porter followed up a first-round 65, which equaled a school record, with a 2-over-par 74 followed by a 4-under-par 68 in the final round. At 9-under-par overall, Porter finished just one stroke out of first, where a three-way play-off decided the tournament winner.
Also hovering under par was Alex Tiong (Sr., Sarawak, Malaysia), who carded 3-under-par for the tournament to finish 19th.
Next week, CSU-Pueblo will travel to Durango for the first RMAC tournament of the season at Fort Lewis.
