WACO, Texas (GoThunderWolves.com - Aug. 19, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo has earned a preseason top ten ranking in the AFCA/USA Today Preseason Coaches' Poll, the AFCA announced Monday.
CSU-Pueblo received a preseason ranking of eighth in the nation, two spots lower than its final AFCA ranking of 6th to close the 2012 campaign.
The ThunderWolves, coming off two consecutive 11-0 regular seasons and two NCAA Division II playoff berths, advanced to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals last season, its deepest advancement into the NCAA Division II playoffs in school history. Additionally, each of the past two seasons, CSU-Pueblo has been ranked number-one in the nation to close the regular season.
Also earning a top-25 ranking was RMAC foe and 2013 opponent Chadron State, which weighs in at 20th in the preseason poll. Fellow RMAC schools New Mexico Highlands and Colorado School of Mines each received votes in the poll.
The ThunderWolves will open its season Sept. 7 on the road at Football Championship Subdivision school, Northern Colorado.
