COLORADO SPRINGS – The recognition just continues to escalate for Jaccob Slavin.

Slavin, recently voted Rookie of the Year in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference after finishing the season as the Tigers' top point producer, was honored on a national level this week when he emerged among three defensemen and just seven players overall named to the College Hockey News' 2013-14 All-Rookie Team.

The freshman blue-line specialist from Erie, Colo., who recorded 25 points (5g,20a) in 32 appearances for CC, earlier was voted to both the All-NCHC Second Team and NCHC All-Rookie Team. He earned conference Player of the Week recognition on three occasions during the '13-14 regular-season.

A fourth-round draft pick of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes in June 2012, Slavin ranked second nationally among freshman defensemen with .78 points per game. He led all NCHC defensemen with that mark as well as .95 points per contest (5g,14a) in 20 league outings, and was second to Nebraska Omaha forward Jake Guentzel among all NCHC rookies in both categories.

He played for Team USA at the 2014 IIHF Junior World Championships in Sweden this past winter.
