COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Score one more for Colorado College’s Sarah Schweiss.
Schweiss, who struck for four of CC’s five goals last weekend, became the first Tiger to be named a Mountain West Player of the Week by landing the offensive award.
The junior midfielder recorded the first multiple-goal game of her career on Friday night at the University of Northern Colorado.
Two days later, Schweiss scored a pair of markers during the second half to lead Colorado College to 3-2 victory over No. 25-ranked University of Denver.
The Monument, Colo., native tied the game in the 68th minute by scoring on a rebound off a corner kick, and then notched the game winner with 7:02 remaining on a crossing shot from the right side of the box.
Schweiss helped the Tigers secure the victory with 20 seconds to play when she used her head to block a volley on the Pioneers’ last possession.
Just two games into her second season at CC, Schweiss already has climbed to 39th place on the program’s career points list with 29.
Colorado College returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 30, when it travels to Colgate University for a non-conference match that will kick off at 7 p.m. ET.
