ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Tuesday placed linebacker Joe Mays on injured reserve, it was announced.
Also on Tuesday, safety Duke Ihenacho was elevated to the active roster and the club signed cornerback Mario Butler to its practice squad.
Mays played six games (4 starts) for Denver this season and totaled 19 tackles (12 solo) along with a half sack (3.5 yds.). The fifth-year player from North Dakota State has seen action in 47 career games (22 starts) with Denver (2010-12) and Philadelphia (2008-09) since he was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round (200th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.
Ihanacho is a rookie from San Jose State who spent five weeks on the club’s practice squad in addition to two weeks on Denver’s active roster. He played eight snaps on special teams against Oakland in his only game appearance this year.
Butler (6-foot-1, 187 pounds) is a first-year player who saw action in one game for Dallas this season after spending his rookie year on the Cowboys’ practice squad. He was signed by Dallas as a college free agent in 2011 from Georgia Tech University where he logged 12 starts as a senior for the Yellow Jackets.
