ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Tuesday agreed to terms on re-signing defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson to a two-year contract, Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway announced.
Vickerson, who is entering his ninth season, set career highs in games played (16) and starts (14) in 2012, helping anchor a Broncos run defense that allowed the second-fewest yards per game (91.1) in the NFL.
He has seen action in 60 career games (32 starts) with Denver (2010-12), Tennessee (2007-09) and Miami (2005-06), totaling 161 tackles (100 solo), 5.5 sacks (22.5 yds.), one interception (4 yds.), eight passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He also owns eight defensive stops in three postseason contests (1 start).
Vickerson was selected by Miami in the seventh round (216th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft and spent two seasons with the Dolphins. He started 10 games for NFL Europe’s Cologne Centurions in 2007, where he was named a first-team All-NFL Europa selection after posting 31 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
In 2009, he posted a personal-best 49 tackles (24 solo) in 13 games (2 starts) for the Titans.
A four-year letterman at Michigan State University following his prep career at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Detroit, Vickerson was born on Jan. 8, 1983.
