GOODYEAR, Ariz. (GoThunderWolves.com – Apr 24, 2014) — Thanks to their top-five finishes, Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golfers Jacob Allenback (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Matt Porter (Jr., Castle Rock, Colo.) were both named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship's All-Tournament Team.
Allenback tied for second in the 45-player tournament with a 54-hole total of even par 216, a 6-shot improvement over his former career-best. He had posted a 5-under par round of 67 in Monday's first round at The Golf Club of Estrella to pin down the early lead.
His finish was his first top-20 finish of the season.
Meanwhile, Porter took fifth place with a 3-round total of 218 (+2). He posted an even part round of 72 in Tuesday's third and final round after carding 73's in both of Monday's rounds. He tallied three top-5 finishes and six top-10 finishes this season.
As a team, the Pack took second in the tournament, their highest finish since winning the title in 2011.
They are now awaiting Friday's expected word of a berth into the NCAA Division II South Central/West Super Regional tournament, which would be the ThunderWolves' 13th straight post-season appearance.
