Air Force baseball outfielder Tyler Jones was named to the 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Jones was one of two freshmen from the Mountain West to earn the honor.
Jones led the Falcons this past season with a batting average of .338. He scored 30 runs and drove in a team-best 31. The second-team All-Mountain West selection from Coppell, Texas, led the squad with 19 doubles and two triples, and was second in home runs with four. He became the first Falcon to earn all-conference honors as a freshman since Rob Lisch in 1991.
Jones is Air Force’s ninth freshman All-American all-time and the first since 2010, when Garrett Custons earned the honor. He was one of two players from the Mountain West, joining Trenton Brooks of Nevada, who was also named to the Freshman All-American team.
