U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force senior forward Kyle De Laurell was named the Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Association Player of the Week as he helped lead Air Force to a win and a tie against Army, Jan. 11-12.

The senior from Mission Viejo, Calif., scored four goals in the two-game series against Army. De Laurell netted his second career hat trick (a natural hat trick) to lead Air Force to a 4-1 win over Army on Jan. 11. His first goal of the game was the eventual game-winner in the second period. He also had a game-high seven shots on Friday. On Saturday, he scored the game-tying goal in the third period to force the 3-3 overtime tie. With Air Force trailing 3-2 in the third period, De Laurell tipped a point shot from Stephen Carew that was saved by Army goalie Rob Tadazak. De Laurell put back his own rebound for his fourth goal of the weekend and eighth of the season. The senior left winger leads the team with 19 points and is second with eight goals. He has scored at least one point in four straight games and is tied for the team lead with two game-winners this season.

The Player of the Week honor is the third of De Laurell’s career. He is the second Falcon this season to earn an AHA weekly award.

Air Force, 7-9-5 overall, 5-5-3 in AHA, travels to Bridgeport, Conn., for a two-game series against league rival Sacred Heart, Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 19-20, at the Webster Bank Arena.
