U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force freshman goaltender Chris Truehl was named to the Atlantic Hockey Association’s All-Rookie team, as announced today by the league.

Truehl led Air Force to eight of the team’s 15 league wins as he made 12 straight starts from Jan. 4-Feb. 14 in place of the injured Jason Torf. The Stoughton, Wisc., native won his first five starts, including a road sweep at Army. On the season, he posted an 8-3-0 record with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .921 saves percentage. In conference games, he ranks second in the league in GAA and third in saves percentage among all goalies. Those numbers are tops in the league among all freshmen goalies. He was named the AHA Rookie of the Week three times and was the AHA Rookie of the Month for February. In February, he led Falcons to three wins with all three victories coming over teams that finished in the top four in the league. He made 21 saves in the win over UConn on Feb. 1. The Stoughton, Wisc., native then led the Falcons to a sweep of first-place Mercyhurst, Feb. 8-9, at the Academy. He made 34 saves, the second most of his career, in the 5-3 win over the Lakers on Feb. 7. In the series finale, he stopped all 24 shots he faced as he blanked the top scoring offense in the conference. The shutout was the third of his career.

Truehl is the first Falcon to earn All-Rookie honors since Jason Torf (goaltender) and Adam McKenzie (defenseman) earned the honor in 2011.

Truehl is joined on the team by Sacred Heart forward Justin Danforth, AIC forward David Norris, Army forward C.J. Reuschlein, Niagara defenseman Vince Muto and Sacred Heart defenseman Mitch Nylen.

Air Force (20-12-4 overall) is the No. 3 seed in the AHA Tournament and has a bye in the first round of the AHA Tournament. The Falcons will host an AHA quarterfinal series against an opponent not yet determined on Friday-Saturday, March 14-15, and Sunday, March 16, if necessary, at the Academy's Cadet Ice Arena.13-
