U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force hockey team opens the 2013-14 season with an exhibition game on Monday, Oct. 7 against the University of New Brunswick at the Cadet Ice Arena. The Falcons then travel to the Kendall Classic in Anchorage, Alaska, Oct. 11-12, as Air Force will face both Alaska-Anchorage and Alaska-Fairbanks.
The first home series will be Oct. 18-19 against non-conference opponent Penn State at the Cadet Ice Arena. The league schedule begins on Friday, Oct. 25 when Canisius, the 2013 AHA Tournament Champions, comes to the Cadet Ice Arena for a single game at 7:05 p.m. Air Force then concludes that weekend with a single game against 2013 AHA Regular-Season Champion Niagara on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 4:05 p.m.
Air Force is coming off of a 17-13-7 record last season and a second-place finish in the AHA. The Falcons clinched its school-record seventh consecutive winning season. Air Force returns 11 of its top 14 scorers and four of the top six defensemen. Rising senior team captain Adam McKenzie returns after claiming the AHA Defenseman of the Year and first-team all-conference honors last season. McKenzie posted eight goals and 20 points and was a +10 in all games last season.
